Komura, Jiang hold talks
Japanese Foreign Minister Masahiko Komura (far L) holds talks
with Chinese President Jiang Zemin at the seaside retreat of
Beihaihe, Hebei Province, east of Beijing, on Sunday Aug. 9. Jiang
calls on Japan's new cabinet of Prime Minister Keizo Obuchi to
contribute to Asia's economic stability, Japanese government
officials say. The Chinese president is scheduled to visit Japan in
early September. Komura arrived in Beijing on Saturday Aug. 8 for a
two-day visit to meet with Chinese government leaders and the lay the
groundwork for Jiang's Japan visit.
