Approval sought to burn plutonium
Tokyo Electric Power Co. (TEPCO) asked the Fukushima prefectural government Aug. 18 for approval to burn fuel containing plutonium at its nuclear power plant located at Okuma in the prefecture. If approved, TEPCO will ask for the central government's permission to use the mixed-oxide fuel at its Fukushima No. 1 nuclear power plant in Okuma (shown in photo). ==Kyodo
