Hitachi to cut 4,000 jobs
Tsutomu Kanai, president of Hitachi Ltd. (C), announces at a news conference on Thursday Sept. 3 a drastic restructuring plan that involved cutting 4,000 jobs by next March. Kanai said Japan's largest electrical machinery producer expects to fall into the red in the current business year for the first time in its history.
