Sato named ambassador to U.N.
Yukio Sato, former ambassador to Australia, was appointed
Japan's ambassador to the United Nations on Friday Sept. 4. Sato,
58, who has also served as director general of the ministry's North
American Affairs Bureau and ambassador to the Netherlands, replaces
Hisashi Owada, who has been U.N. envoy since March 1994.
