Sphinx hoisted

French underwater explorer Franck Goddio (L) shows a granite sphinx hoisted by his team out of Alexandria bay Wednesday Oct. 28. The sphinx whose head portrays Ptolemy XII, father of Cleopatra, was raised from the submerged island of Antirhodos off the coast of the ancient city founded by Alexander the Great in 331 BC.
