Japan-U.S. military drills begin in southern Kyushu
Joint military drills by the Japanese Ground Self-Defense
Force (GSDF) and U.S. Marines begin in southern Kyushu on Nov. 5. The
drills, which commenced with an opening ceremony at the GSDF's
Kirishima range, will take place in Miyazaki, Kagoshima and Kumamoto
prefectures. The drills are the first to be conducted in the southern
part of Kyushu, and they are aimed at strengthening the two sides'
joint tactical ability.
