Kan, Matsuzawa vying for DPJ leadership
Naoto Kan, incumbent leader of the main opposition Democratic
Party of Japan (DPJ), and DPJ lawmaker Shigefumi Matsuzawa filed
their candidacies Jan. 9 in the party's leadership race slated for
Jan. 18. The photo shows Kan, 52, and Matsuzawa (L), 40, shaking
hands in a hall for candidacy filing at the No.1 residential building
for House of Representatives members in Nagatacho, Tokyo.
