Pop singer Amuro's mother dies in Okinawa attack

The mother of Japanese pop singer Namie Amuro dies after a suspected assault on a street in Okinawa on March 17. The photo shows Amuro (R) and her dancer husband SAM walking to the boarding gate at Tokyo's Narita airport to leave for Okinawa. Police are treating the case as a murder following witness accounts that a man beat her with a steel pipe and fled by car. Police later identified him as the victim's brother-in-law.
