Nomo sent to minor leagues by N.Y. Mets

The New York Mets releases struggling Japanese right-hander Hideo Nomo on March 24 by sending him to triple-A minor league team Norfolk of the International League. The 30-year-old Nomo has 72 hours to decide whether to accept the assignment or declare himself a free agent. The photo shows Nomo getting in a car after practice the same day.
