Indonesians head to polls in historic vote
The photo shows Indonesians in the suburbs of Jakarta voting
June 7 in the first election since the fall of former President
Suharto, and the country's first open and transparent election in 44
years. In choosing from among 48 political parties, Indonesian voters
are being afforded an unprecedented opportunity to render their
verdict on the ruling Golkar party's decades-long domination of the
Indonesian political scene.
