Kan declares candicacy in DPJ leadership race

TOKYO, Japan - Democratic Party of Japan (DPJ) leader Naoto Kan tells Kyodo News on Aug. 8 in Tokyo that he will run in this fall's race of leadership of the main opposition party. Yukio Hatoyama, the party's deputy secretary general, also expresses his desire to run in the race.
