Obuchi leans toward fully funding pensions from taxes
TOYAMA, Japan - Prime Minister Keizo Obuchi tells a press conference in Toyama on the Sea of Japan coast on Sept. 5 that he will give positive consideration to an advisory panel's proposal in February that the national pension scheme's basic pension be funded exclusively with tax revenues. He was stumping in the city ahead of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) leadership election.
