Chinese moss found for 1st time in Japan
NAGANO, Japan - Moss that has so far only been confirmed to be growing in China's Yunnan Province and in Taiwan has been found in Japan for the first time, a group of researchers says Sept. 18. The group, led by researchers at the Okayama University of Science, has concluded that the moss, found in 1996 in the village of Oshika in Nagano Prefecture, central Japan, is neodolichomitra yunnanensis, which belongs to the hypnum plumaeforme family of moss.
