Osaka team develops genetic treatment for brain tumor
OSAKA, Japan - An Osaka University research team said on Sept. 28 it has successfully used genetic treatment to cure mice implanted with malignant brain tumors. The brain tumor shown above disappeared after the treatment, which involves integrating a modified gene into a specially made retrovirus and injecting it into the brain to activate an administered drug, enabling it to kill off the tumor.
