Honda's Insight ranked as most fuel efficient car

WASHINGTON, U.S. - Honda Motor Co.'s Insight hybrid sedan is ranked as the most fuel efficient car among model year 2000 vehicles BY the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency on Oct. 1. The Insight, a two-seat car powered by a gasoline-electric hybrid engine scheduled to go on sale in December, logged 25.9 kilometers per liter of gasoline for driving in cities and a highway rating of 29.8 km per liter.

Honda unveils 'hybrid' car technology

TOKYO, Japan - A handout photo shows a new fuel-efficient power source for a 'hybrid' car unveiled July 6 by Honda Motor Co. Called Honda Integrated Motor Assist System, it is a compact 1-liter lean burn VTEC gasoline engine combined with an electric motor. Honda claimed that using the new technologies it has achieved the world's lowest fuel consumption for a mass-produced gasoline-powered vehicle -- 35 kilometers per liter (22 miles per gallon).
