Honda unveils 'hybrid' car technology
TOKYO, Japan - A handout photo shows a new fuel-efficient power source for a 'hybrid' car unveiled July 6 by Honda Motor Co. Called Honda Integrated Motor Assist System, it is a compact 1-liter lean burn VTEC gasoline engine combined with an electric motor. Honda claimed that using the new technologies it has achieved the world's lowest fuel consumption for a mass-produced gasoline-powered vehicle -- 35 kilometers per liter (22 miles per gallon).
