Sumitomo, Sakura banks to merge
TOKYO, Japan - Sumitomo Bank and Sakura Bank, two of Japan's largest commercial banks, announce Oct. 14 a basic agreement to integrate their businesses by April 2002 to create the world's second largest bank.
