Yokosuka-based U.S. cruiser visits Kagoshima port

KAGOSHIMA, Japan - The U.S. Aegis guided missile cruiser Mobile Bay arrives at Kagoshima, southwestern Japan, on Oct. 28 for a four-day friendship port call for replenishment and rest of its crew. The 9,700-ton cruiser, based at the U.S. naval base in Yokosuka, south of Tokyo, will be open to the public at Kagoshima port on Oct. 29 and 30. This is the first visit by a U.S. warship to Kagoshima since the 3,600-ton frigate Vandegrift made a port call in September last year.
