Nago assembly supports heliport relocation within city
NAGO, Japan - The Nago municipal assembly on Dec. 23 passes a resolution conditionally accepting a plan to relocate the heliport functions of the U.S. Marine Corps Futemma Air Station to an airport to be built in the Henoko district of the city. The resolution, submitted by the ruling Shimpu 21 and Nagomi-no-Kai assembly blocs, was backed by 17 members of the ruling groups while 10 opposition assembly members voted against it. Two members of the New Komeito party left their seats to abstain in the standing vote.
