NAHA, Japan - Plaintiffs in a damages suit over noise from the U.S. Kadena Air Base in Okinawa Prefecture show mixed reactions in Naha to a ruling the Fukuoka High Court handed down Feb. 27. Okinawa citizens protest U.S. military presence following rape

URASOE, Japan - Residents in Urasoe, Okinawa Prefecture, tie about 100,000 handkerchiefs decorated with antimilitary messages to fences surrounding a local U.S. military base on July 20 in protest at the recent rape of an Okinawa woman allegedly by a U.S. serviceman.
