Japan says no major Y2K problems reported so far
TOKYO, Japan - Prime Minister Keizo Obuchi says early on Jan. 1 that no major problems arising from the Y2K computer bug have been reported in Japan. ''Fortunately, there have been no major incidents that would have a major impact on people's lives,'' Obuchi said. ''I believe this is the result of efforts that were made by both the public and private sectors in taking precautionary steps.''
