Tokai Bank's ATMs stay open despite Y2K fears
NAGOYA, Japan - A young woman, dressed in traditional Japanese kimono for the New Year's holiday, draws cash from her account at an automatic teller machine (ATM) of Nagoya-based Tokai Bank, the only major commercial bank in Japan providing ATM services throughout the holiday, on Jan. 1 in downtown Nagoya, central Japan. The photo was taken at 9:10 a.m. after the start of the new year. Other financial institutions, including major commercial banks, shut down their ATMs during the three-day period to Jan. 3 to avoid possible Y2K computer glitches.
