LNG production continues in Aceh despite independence call
ACEH, Indonesia - Despite an increasing demand for independence and mounting separatist guerrilla activities, production of liquefied natural gas continues at a plant in Aceh, a joint venture between state-run oil company Pertamina and a Japanese concern. Photo shows a tanker loading LNG for Japan. Almost all of the income from the project enters the national coffers and the guerrillas are demanding the LNG income be retained in Aceh.
