Ex-LDP Vice President Nikaido dies at 90
TOKYO, Japan - Susumu Nikaido, a former vice president of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), dies of heart failure at a Tokyo hospital at 90. Nikaido, a close aide to late Prime Minister Kakuei Tanaka, played a key role in restoring Japan-China diplomatic ties in 1972.
