NTT DoCoMo's 'i-mode' service suspended for 3 hours

FUKUOKA, Japan - Cellular-phone users in Japan are unable to use the ''i-mode'' Internet service of NTT Mobile Communications Network Inc. (NTT DoCoMo) for three hours March 28. Photo shows a cellular-phone screen indicating the i-mode service was suspended. All of NTT DoCoMo's 5.46 million mobile phones equipped with i-mode were unable to send or receive data through the service.

3G mobile phone service begins

TOKYO, Japan - One of invited guests at a ceremony launching NTT DoCoMo Inc.'s trial operation of the world's newest mobile phone service looks at a handset that enables users to watch video data. The service, dubbed FOMA, or ''freedom of mobile multimedia access,'' will be initially limited to Japan. But the company plans to expand it to other countries in the future.
