NIIGATA, Japan - A veterinary surgeon at an ibis conservation center on Sadogashima Island checks one of three eggs laid by Yang Yang, a female ibis chick that produced Japan's first artificially bred ibis chick last May. The center said two of the three eggs are likely fertilized. Yang Yang and her mate, You You, arrived in Japan in January last year as gifts from Chinese President Jiang Zemin to Emperor Akihito. The photo was released by the center April 21.
