'Smart' chimp Ai hugs newborn
INUYAMA, Japan - Ai, a chimpanzee that has learned hundreds of numbers and letters, holds her newborn baby, Ayumu, at the Primate Research Institute of Kyoto University, in Inuyama, Aichi Prefecture, on April 25. Researchers plan to study whether the male baby, born the previous day, has inherited any of Ai's abilities. The photo was provided by the institute.
