Chinese sues Japan for 207 mil. yen over WWII forced labor
FUKUOKA, Japan - Zhang Baoheng, 76, walks into the Fukuoka District Court on May 10 to file a lawsuit against the Japanese government and Mitsui Mining Co., seeking 207 million yen in compensation for his time as forced laborer in coal mines in Fukuoka Prefecture during World War II. Zhang was joined in the suit by eight other Chinese who say they were conscripted to Japan in 1943 and 1944 and were forced to work for Mitsui Mining at its Miike and Tagawa coal mines in Fukuoka Prefecture.
