Hearing starts for Niigata man who held girl for 9 years

NIIGATA, Japan - A Niigata District Court room is pictured May 23, before the start of the first hearing in the trial of Nobuyuki Sato, a 37-year-old unemployed man. Sato pleaded guilty to abducting a 9-year-old girl in 1990 and holding her captive for nine years and two months until January at his home in Kashiwazaki, Niigata Prefecture.
