Emperor regrets Japan's WWII fight with Netherlands
AMSTERDAM, Netherlands - Emperor Akihito (L) makes a speech at a state banquet hosted by Queen Beatrix (R) at Amsterdam Palace on May 23. The Japanese monarch, who arrived in Amsterdam with Empress Michiko earlier in the day, expressed grief and sadness that the two nations fought in World War II, which he said has left ''unhealed scars'' among war victims even today.
