Emperor reads condolences for empress dowager
TOKYO, Japan - Emperor Akihito reads out condolences at the funeral July 25 for Empress Dowager Nagako at the Toshimagaoka imperial cemetery in Bunkyo Ward, Tokyo. The emperor served as chief mourner during the Shinto-style ceremony, called ''Renso-no-gi'' in Japanese. The empress dowager, widow of Emperor Hirohito, died of old age June 16 at 97.
