Palace holds rite to set date for Princess Sayako's marriage

TOKYO, Japan - Imperial Household Agency Grand Steward Shingo Haketa (R) conveys a message from Yoshiki Kuroda to Emperor Akihito (L), Empress Michiko (2nd from L) and their daughter Princess Sayako during ''the Kokki no Gi (the Rite of Announcing the Date)'' at the Imperial Palace in Tokyo on Oct. 5. The ceremony was held to formally set the date of Princess Sayako's marriage to Kuroda, a Tokyo metropolitan government employee, for Nov. 15.
