Fishermen oppose construction of new airport

NAGOYA, Japan - Fishermen speed their boats off Tokoname, Aichi Prefecture, on Aug. 3 to demonstrate their opposition to the planned construction of a new offshore airport there. Work to reclaim an area for the Central Japan International Airport began Aug. 1. Officials hope to see the airport opened by March 2005, in time for the start of a World Exposition to be held in the prefecture.
