Price of land falls for 8th straight year
TOKYO, Japan - Photo shows Japan's most expensive piece of land in front of stationery store Kyukyodo in Tokyo's Ginza district. The property was worth 11.68 million yen per sq meter, the same as in 1999 and worth about a third of the 36.5 million yen in the peak year of 1992. A postcard-sized plot in front of the store was priced at 173,000 yen. The average price of land in Japan fell for the eighth straight year in the 12 months to Jan. 1.
