Tanaka Kikinzoku unveils Tokyo Tower statue made of pure gold

TOKYO, Japan - Tanaka Kikinzoku Jewelry K.K. unveiled a statue of Tokyo Tower made of pure gold at its flagship store in Tokyo's Ginza shopping district on Dec. 3. The 66-centimeter-high statue, which carries a price tag of 50 million yen and was made to commemorate the jeweler's 50th anniversary of business establishment, will be displayed at the store until Dec. 25. The company said it will produce more statues if it receives orders for them. (Kyodo)

Diamond-studded Christmas tree going for 200.7 million yen

TOKYO, Japan - A diamond-studded Christmas tree is on display at the Nihonbashi Takashimaya department store in Tokyo on Nov. 13. The 40-centimeter-tall Christmas tree is studded with 400 diamonds, the largest weighing 3 karats, and lined with chemically treated miniature roses. The Christmas tree comes with a teddy bear with a diamond necklace. Takashimaya says the set was specially designed for Christmas 2007 with the price set at 200.7 million yen. TOKYO, Japan - A model points out a calendar for 2008 made of pure gold at the flagship store of Tanaka Kikinzoku Jewelry K.K. in Tokyo's Ginza shopping district on Oct. 18. Tanaka Kikinzoku will begin taking orders for the 30 million yen calendar on Oct. 19. On the back of the calendar are printed images from the picture scroll of the Tale of Genji, a classic work of Japanese literature which will be marking its 1,000th anniversary next year. (Kyodo)

Dress, swimsuit made of pure gold thread unveiled

TOKYO, Japan - Models wearing a dress and a swimsuit made of pure gold thread pose during a presentation by Tanaka Kikinzoku Jewelry K.K. at a hotel in Tokyo on July 4. Tanaka Kikinzoku Jewelry unveils gold pony to fete royal birth

TOKYO, Japan - Tanaka Kikinzoku Jewelry K.K. on Sept. 20 unveils to the public a pony made with about 30 kilograms of pure gold to commemorate the birth of Prince Hisahito, who was born Sept. 6 to Princess Kiko and Prince Akishino, the second son of Emperor Akihito. The pony, whose market price is worth 150 million yen, will be sold if there is an order after being displayed at the company's main store in the Ginza shopping district in Tokyo, and outlets in Nagoya, Fukuoka and Osaka. Silver 'hina' dolls to be sold to commemorate princess' wedding

TOKYO, Japan - A set of silver ''hina'' dolls commemorating the wedding of Princess Sayako on Nov. 15 is displayed at a hotel in Tokyo on Nov. 22. The set consists of two dolls representing an emperor and empress wearing the court dress of the Heian period (794-1185) and three dolls representing court ladies serving the emperor and the empress, sitting on a vermillion-lacquered platform. Tanaka Kikinzoku Jewelry K.K. will sell the ''hina'' dolls at 150,000 yen per set for display at the annual March 3 Doll Festival. (Kyodo)
