Nagasaki marks 55th anniversary of atomic bombing
NAGASAKI, Japan - A ceremony commemorating the 55th anniversary of the U.S. atomic bombing of Nagasaki takes place Aug. 9 at the Nagasaki Peace Park in the southwestern Japanese city. Speakers at the event called for the antinuclear movement to return to its original spirit and for the nuclear powers to immediately begin negotiations on the early conclusion of a comprehensive treaty banning nuclear weapons.
