Japanese journalist to head U.N. Information Center in Tokyo
NEW YORK, United States - Hatsuhisa Takashima, a veteran Japanese broadcast journalist, speaks at a press conference in New York on Aug. 23 before assuming his duties as head of the U.N. Information Center in Tokyo on Sept. 1. The post has been vacant since June, when former director Thelma O'Con-Solorzano of Nicaragua resigned. Takashima began his career with Japan's public broadcaster NHK in 1963, and will leave the corporation at the end of this month.
