Former Shimizu execs get suspended terms for bribery

TOKYO, - Teruzo Yoshino (R), former chairman, and Hiroyuki Koyama, former vice chairman, of Shimizu Corp. walk down to the Tokyo District Court on Sept. 12 to attend their trial. The court sentenced them and another former Shimizu executive to suspended jail terms for giving 10 million yen in bribes to the Ibaraki governor in 1992. The three defendants appealed the ruling later.

The court found Mitsubishi Motors and the three men not guilty on charges related to falsifying defect reports on its truck wheel hubs, which resulted in a fatal accident in Yokohama in January 2002. Ex-lawmaker Nakajima gets 2 1/2 years in prison

TOKYO, Japan - Yojiro Nakajima (C), a former member of the House of Representatives, enters the Tokyo District Court on July 14 to hear the ruling of his trial for bribe-taking and other charges. The court sentenced Nakajima to two years and six months in prison and imposed a 10 million yen fine for receiving 5 million yen in bribes from Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd. in 1996. Nakajima appealed the district court's ruling to the Tokyo High Court the same day.

Ex-bureaucrat convicted of bribery

Takehiko Isaka, 55, a former executive of Japan Highway Public Corp., walks into the Tokyo District Court on Dec. 24. He was later sentenced to two and a half years in prison suspended for three years for receiving bribes in the form of entertainment. ==Kyodo
