Mariners acquire exclusive negotiating rights for Ichiro

OSAKA, Japan - Japanese outfielder Ichiro Suzuki is swarmed by reporters at the Orix BlueWave indoor training ground in Kobe on Nov. 9 after the Pacific League club announced it has received a $13,125,000 bid from a major league team for the right to negotiate with the seven-time league batting champion. In Amelia, Florida, Major League Baseball said in a statement later in the day that the Seattle Mariners have acquired exclusive negotiating rights for Ichiro.
