Mariners' Sasaki begins training in Okinawa

NAGO, Japan - Seattle Mariners closer Kazuhiro Sasaki, the American League's Rookie of the Year in 2000, begins training in Nago, Okinawa Prefecture, on Jan. 9 in preparation for the upcoming season. Sasaki, a former Yokohama BayStars right-hander and Japan's all-time saves leader, finished his first year in the major leagues with a rookie record 37 saves.
