Photo of hijackers' kin released

TOKYO, Japan - A support group for the kin of Red Army Faction cadres who hijacked a Japan Airlines jet in 1970 and ordered it to North Korea released Jan. 26 this photo of five relatives taken on December 10 in Pyongyang. The group said the hijackers' two wives (far left and far right in back row) and three daughters (in front row) have expressed hope to move to Japan from North Korea.

Ex-abductee Hasuike wins nonfiction award

TOKYO, Japan - Repatriated abductee Kaoru Hasuike (file photo) won an award Aug. 27, 2009, for a nonfiction work that features his experience of being abducted to North Korea and living in the reclusive country. Hasuike went missing along with his girlfriend, Yukiko Okudo, in Niigata Prefecture in July 1978, and returned to Japan in October 2002 with Okudo, to whom he got married in North Korea, after Pyongyang admitted to past abductions of Japanese citizens. Kin of abductees form international solidarity group

TOKYO, Japan - Relatives of people kidnapped by North Korean agents formed an international group on Dec. 10 to work together on a range of activities including realizing the release of abductees and demanding compensation from Pyongyang.

Iizuka named as new head of group of abductees' kin

Plan to sell N. Korea group's head office abandoned

Yokota to retire as head of abductee families' group

TOKYO, Japan - Shigeru Yokota (file photo), who heads a group of Japanese families of victims of North Korea's abductions, plans to step down from the post due to waning physical strength. Yokota, 74, became the head of the Association of the Families of Victims Kidnapped by North Korea when it was formed on March 25, 1997, and has led the campaign, together with his wife Sakie, 71, to seek the return of abductees, including their daughter Megumi, who was abducted by North Korean agents in 1977 at the age of 13.

Abductee's sister files complaint against hijackers' wives

Kin express joy after film on abductee wins prize

TOKYO, Japan - The relatives of victims of North Korea's abductions expressed their delight in Tokyo on Jan. 30 after ''Abduction: The Megumi Yokota Story,'' a U.S. documentary film on the abduction of the Japanese woman, won the best documentary award at the U.S. Slamdance Film Festival in Utah on Jan. 27. Sakie Yokota (R), Megumi's mother, and Teruaki Masumoto (L), whose sister Rumiko was abducted in 1978 at age 24, meet the press showing photos at the festival.

Jenkins attending driving school to get license
