Top kabuki actor Nakamura Utaemon dies at 84
TOKYO, Japan - Photo shows Nakamura Utaemon VI, a top kabuki actor and living national treasure, who died March 31 of respiratory failure at his Tokyo home. He was 84. Nakamura was known after World War II as the best ''Onnagata,'' an actor specializing in female roles. He won the Order of Culture in 1979 and Grand Cordon of the Order of the Sacred Treasure in 1996.
