KYOTO, Japan - The Clarke Memorial Hall at Doshisha University, one of Japan's oldest private educational institutions in Kyoto, is to undergo the first-ever full renovation. University officials said April 14 that ahead of the six to seven years of full repair from 2004, a temporary repair work will begin on April 16 and end by September. Designated a cultural asset of Japan, the two-story hall built in Gothic style was completed in 1893 under the work of a German architect.
