Sanyo develops washing machine that uses electrolyzed water

OSAKA, Japan - Sanyo Electric Co. has developed what it claims to be the world's first automatic washing machine that uses electrolyzed water and needs no detergent to remove grime from clothing. The major Japanese consumer electronics maker said June 22 the new product will be put on the domestic market on Aug. 1.

          TOYAMA, Japan - Fifteen tons of water gush out each second from Kurobe Dam in the upper reaches of Kurobe River on June 26 as Kansai Electric Power Co., operators of Japan's largest arched dam, started releasing water from the dam to replenish the lower reaches of the river during the dry summer season.
