Top court upholds defense data disclosure by Naha mayor
NAHA, Japan - Lawyers for the Naha municipal government speak at a press conference at the Okinawa prefectural government on July 13 after the Supreme Court dismissed a central government objection to a decision by the Naha municipal government to disclose information on a defense facility. The court said it is appropriate that the Naha mayor decided in 1989 to disclose plans and other documents on construction of an antisubmarine warfare operation center of the Maritime Self-Defense Force in response to a request by local residents.
