(1)Hiroshima marks 56th anniversary of A-bombing

HIROSHIMA, Japan - Some 50,000 people, including Prime Minister Junichi Koizumi, attend a ceremony in Peace Memorial Park in Hiroshima on Aug. 6 to commemorate the 56th anniversary of the city's atomic bombing. The number of victims was 221,893 as of Aug. 6, including an estimated 140,000 who died by the end of 1945 as a direct result of the bomb.
