L.A. court to hear 1st slave labor case against Japanese firm
LOS ANGELES, United States - Attorneys for Jae Won Jeong (L), 79, meet the press in Los Angeles on Sept. 17 after a U.S. judge rejected Japan's request to dismiss a lawsuit against a Japanese company filed by Jae who claims he was reportedly forced to work as a slave laborer during World War II. The attorneys said the decision by Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Peter Lichtman is a historic victory and may increase settlements in other slave labor cases.
