Koizumi visits evacuated volcanic island of Miyakejima
TOKYO, Japan - Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi visits the island of Miyakejima on Sept. 29, currently uninhabited after its residents were evacuated last year following volcanic activity. He arrived via a Self-Defense Forces helicopter for his first visit to the island, south of Tokyo, since his inauguration as premier in late April.
