Matsusaka cow sold for 30 mil. yen amid mad cow scare
TSU, Japan - Yuki, a three-year-old cow that won this year's top Matsuzaka prize, is sold for 30 million yen at an auction market in Matsuzaka, Mie Prefecture on Nov. 28. Matsusaka-brand beef, known for being tender and juicy, is popular for sukiyaki. Due to the mad cow disease scare, Matsusaka only shipped 223 cattle in October -- a sharp drop from the 706 sent to market in the same month last year.
