Researchers grow eyeballs in tadpoles

TOKYO, Japan - Photo provided by Makoto Asashima, professor of the University of Tokyo, shows a tadpole eyeball grown in activin using an undifferentiated cell taken from a frog embryo. Asashima, who leads a group of researchers, said Jan. 5 his group's findings will lay the groundwork for providing treatments for those who are visually impaired.
